About Albany Memorial Hospital

In 1868, we opened as the Albany City Free Dispensary, providing healthcare services for patients in the community who were unable to pay. Over the next 82 years, the hospital had a total of five downtown Albany locations - including two on North Pearl Street. In 1957, Albany Memorial Hospital moved to its current location on Northern Boulevard.

Today, as a 165-bed community hospital, Albany Memorial is at the forefront of acute inpatient and outpatient care and offers a vast range of services, including critical care, ambulatory surgery, diabetes management at our Diabetes Center and care for congestive heart failure through our Heart Program.

Our emergency department, which consistently receives high patient satisfaction scores, is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians though Emergency Medicine Physicans (EMP).

Albany Memorial Hospital was recently named as one of the 100 Top Hospitals Intensive Care Units (ICU) in an independent study released by the Solucient Leadership Institute, a leading source of healthcare intelligence and benchmark information. The study found that the 100 top hospitals have shorter lengths of stay and lower costs while achieving superior clinical outcomes. Hospitals were ranked on a number of performance measures for quality practices and efficiency of operations, including complications, mortality, length of stay and costs.
